These instructions depend upon where you are running Explorer from. I will use the default location of it on the Start Menu/Programs.

Right click on the taskbar,,,choose Properties,,,,select the Start Menu tab,,,,choose Advanced,,,,,find the Windows Explorer shortcut and right click on it,,,go to Properties,,,,the Target should be something like the following if you want Explorer to default to opening on the root of drive C:

C:\Windows\Explorer.exe /n /e,C:\

The last parameter tells Explorer where to open.

dxd
RichS, I think I know why windows explorer is starting from c:\windows\startup. It is becuase you are right clicking on the start button and choosing explore. I use this feature when I want to modify the shortcuts in the start menu.

As far as telling explorer were to open that is a good suggestion, but what do you do if you start explorer by using the quick keys "win key + e"?

fenris
fenris@hotmail.com
