Greetings all,

Some of my users are complaining about the way that Excel is called from PPweb (7.3MR2, but same as 7.3). The issue is that when the excel report is saved, the dialog(ue) box defaults file type to web page (.htm), no doubt due to the way that Excel has been called.
I've checked the Excel options to be default Excel. Is there a way to make Excel always choose xls type? I suspect it may involve creating a macro to run on opening.
Thanks,
lex

Hi Lex

Can you clarify what steps you are using when saving as Excel. When I use the Export XLS option from the toolbar

Export XLS -> Save -> The save as dialog box is set to 'Save As type' Microsoft Excel worksheet

Gary,
Sorry, should have said that the users select 'open' and view the report in excel, and make changes as required. When saving in Excel, the default is as a web page.

I'm using Excel 2002.

thanks,
lex

Sorry Lex can't find any way of resolving this. Not even sure if the problem is with PPWeb or Excel.

Gary,
thanks for checking. I'll risk dumping this one in the Office forum for the XLHeds to work on.
