Can someone tell where can I find Apache default error message text. The one that is being "server-generated" if no values are given to ErrorDocument directive in httpd.conf or .htaccess.
I understand that "server-generated" means that server takes it from somewhere. I'd rather modify this default messages instead of giving value to ErrorDocument directive. Although I am unable to find information about location of this text.

No, that's literally a generated message.

There is no source HTML file. The facility to produce those messages is compiled into the server -- you can see it in the source file http_protocol.c, around line 2979 (for Apache 1.3.27)

I suppose you could modify http_protocol.c.
