default codepage for AIX?

Hi,
I think there is no default code set for aix 5.x!
It only depends on what kind of terminal client you are using.
When I connect to my aix 5.x using telnet windows NT (based on ISO8859-1) all my french characters are stored on files using IS8859-1 code set.
When I connect with wyse Term (excced product), the code set used is IBM-850.
The french characters (over 7F hexa )in files created with ISO8859-1 terminal cannot be searched when using a terminal based on IBM-850 code set.
