I've installed Apache Server 2.0.52 in my Windows XP Pro system, apparently successfully.
However when I try to display the default Apache page, by entering " in my browser, I get a page returned that only says "It Works!" in bold letters. If I add an additional slash " I do get the default Apache page... This didn't happen with older versions of Apache - am I doing something wrong?
Apache seems to work OK, I can test PHP and MYSQL connection satisfactorily, but before I continue, I want to be sure I don't need to do something else.

You will need phpmyadmin if you intend to use mysql
Not neccessarily.

Anyway, to answer Bob1102's question- all you need to do is put an index.html file in your document root & you'll see that instead of the 'it worked' page. I have no idea why you'd get the other page by adding an extra trailing slash, the error log might give a clue about that.

i would suggest creating a folder for your website, as you would if you had found no error, try to create multiple pages in the folder, such as index, of course, and others. then try the two slashes again. it might only happen when there is a single file to use, which would be corrected by multiple files.
personally, i got apache, php, and My SQL working haven't bothered with anything else. that is, until i open the website for business, then i will look for little errors like this.
