Hi

We use Deep Freeze, a security program that restores PCs to their original settings on reboot. However we are finding that Deep Freeze take a v long time to reboot - up to 20 mins just to display the log on screen. Tech support at Faronics (who developed Deep Freeze) have told us to run scan disk and defrag progs first before we install DF, however we keep having to do this.

Has anyone else come across this problem? We are beginning to notice that any disruption to the network also results in Deep Freeze problems (eg. the 20 min to display log on).

We are part of a domain and run Deep Freeze on public access computers.

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may be having dns issues with those work stations, check the dns settings on the work stations to see if they are correct. Wrong DNS can give you the problem you are having at the moment. Also if that doesnt work try removing DeepFreeze see if that helps at all.

If these computers are 2k or XP you could just create a group policy to lock them down instead of using a 3rd party product.
