When installing a DECT DMC8 card in an Option81c does it need all 3 connection from the backplane to go the external connector ?

Do you mean the 25 pair wiring cable?. We usually put in all 3 Krone strips as the last strip can be used to act as a serial port connection should you lose the IP address.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Not the Krone strips, but the 3 connectors on the back plane which use ribbon cable out to the Amphenol on the back of the Option81 shelf.

Based on each ribbon gives 8 pairs, if you require the serial port option you will need to put the DECT card in a slot which has all 3 ribbons attached (24 Pair)ie 0,4,8 or 12 as standard. Otherwise it will involve moving the ribbons to provide all 24 pairs for the slot your using (As used to be done when installing a MAX or CCR IPE module in an IPE shelf).

Thanks MossEng. I will go and double check how slots have been ribboned up.
