IP Office R11.1 Essential Edition w/3730 cordless phones and v4 Base Stations (700515210)...

We have hundreds of systems for this customer on R11 with no issues. When trying to set up the first system on R11.1 w/3730s, I defaulted the base stations like normal and assigned all of them static IPs, one as Master and the rest as slaves. Up to this point the only difference I've noted is that you're now required to change the default login password on the base stations to a 14-character password, with the only limitation noted as only allowing up to four consecutive lower case letters in the password. Previously the v4 base stations required you to change the default password, but did not require 14 characters, and the laptop I use to config the base stations has been on 11.1 software for quite some time, so it appears to be a base station requirement (new firmware, maybe?) and not an R11.1 requirement.

When I tried to go back in to complete setup and add the 3730s, all login attempts fail despite the proper credentials being entered. I've tried multiple passwords, copying and pasting the password, typing it in manually, etc. I've defaulted the base stations multiple times to reconfigure them in case I kept typing something incorrect, I've tried multiple browsers, but all login attempts fail.

Has anyone experienced this yet or know of a solution? TIA...

Updating this thread: I finally got a password to work using all numbers and lower case letters. No password with any capital letters in it has worked, so that may be part of it.

Thanks for posting the resolution I gave you pink for it.

This has been an ongoing thing for Avaya for a bit now. They require "at least" a 31 character password for voicemail pro connection but it ended up being not at least 31 characters it had to be exactly 31 characters. It also rejected voicemail being in the password, despite saving and not complaining, but then reporting a password issue in ssa when trying to connect. I am not sure if they are understaffed, deliberately making onprem worse to push people to hosted, or just incompetent at this point. Probably a mix of all 3 if I had to guess.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Turns out that once you can get back in, there's a new section where you can set different restrictions on the password, such as how many characters it needs to be, how many consecutive lower case letters, numbers, etc. can be in the password, and so on. The problem is that you need to actually get in the first time in order to see it! I agree with you, critchey, something is up because I see more and more of these little "quirks" with Avaya.
