My organisation has recently installed a couple of Exchange 2003 servers into our Windows 2000 Active Directory domain, and migrated all of our mailboxes to them. Also the outbound SMTP connector has been moved to one of these servers, so the old Exchange 2000 server is pretty much idle, apart from the odd spam message coming into the SMTP port. (We've moved our MX record too, but some spammers seem to ignore it).
We know want to remove all traces of Exchange 2000 from the existing server, which also runs as an Active Directory domain controller. However we'd like to keep it still running in the latter mode, so only require the removal of Exchange.
What exactly do we need to do to remove Exchange from this server but keep the other features running?
