I have to decommision a G3 SI V11 switch, I'm going to take a full back up initially, and rather than just powering off the switch i need to clear all config on it as it is possible the switch will be rented with the building it is is

is there a quick command to do this? or do i have to trawl through the system and remove everything manually

thanks

thread690-1341746 may be of some help to you.

If you remove everything, it will have to be relicensed through Avaya. I think i would just remove what needs to be (will take some time) to make sure it could be used again and not sent to the Definity graveyard.

There was a bug on older software (i think on V11 as well) that meant if you put a number range on the AAR screens it would remove everything administered on the switch for that range.

I.e. if you put 2xxx on the AAR screen and enter this; then everything administered on the switch with an extension of 2xxx would be removed.

A very dangerous bug that has been fixed, but you're old software may still be buggy.

It's worth a try,

inerguard, you are dreaming. LOL

pull the flash card out, do a reset system 4 (which will reload the pbx with no translations)
Then, put the card back in, and do a save translation
this will blank the card.

may want to keep a backup flash card that does have translation. Up to you.

Or, just don't give them your flash card and shut it down.

AvayaTier3, I only have 1 more suggestion: once they load the blank translations, if they have access to RFA, and know the SID, they should download a new license & password file (and you will need the LIT tool to do it), so that the system has a valid license.

A switch with no license is totally useless.

The cost to buy new RTU for an older switch is MORE than nuying a new switch.

If you can get a RFA license, Mitch has a valid point. However there is no password file for g3i. If you don't have an LIT tool, it can be downloaded from RFA along with the license. Actually a g3i or g3r license is a text file ossi script and can be loaded without the LIT tool.

So, after the steps above, load the license, save translation, do reset system 3 and you will have a blank system with only the features turned on from the license file. From that point is could easily be programmed for anyone's needs based on the features that are already paid for. Avaya will not add to or modify a R11 license.

Which would keep it from the dreaded "Definity Graveyard".

I love those old systems. Almost bullet proof.

I wish Brett and Mitch would write a FAQ on this. Great information here.

Thanks guys.

the easiest way to clear a system its with FIND AND REPLACE from The ASA Advanced Tools, (with the option REMOVE) you can try erasing First All Hunt Groups, Then all The stations and Coverage Paths Etc,

you Need to setup a Filter, later it is easier to delete the rest of the configuration...
