Declare variable as database not available

In access 2000 I am trying to set up a record set and when I try to delare the variable as database it is not in the dropdown list and when I type it in directly I get a undefined user object error

you have to set the reference (see menu tools->references in the visdal basic mode

and see if dao 3.6 ...
is marked

and use
dim dbs as dao.database "What a wonderfull world" - Louis armstrong
