Help!
We are running Version 6.5 of DS on WIN NT 4.0 server against a SQL Server Database.
Once a week, due to datas issues, etc, we run a "complete" rebuild of the datamart. We keep current YTD plus 2 prior years worth of data..rolling off the oldest year when a new year begins.
Worst case is at the end of December, when there is data for an entire 3 years.
Right now, there is only 2 full years, plus half of the current year.
We run 12-13 DS job steps during the weekly rebuild. From May 2001 until April 5, 2003 the last 2 steps took a combined time of 5 hours (2+3). All of a sudden, the following week these 2 steps are taking (4+6) - 10 hours total !!
WE run an incremental DS everyday, part of which deletes a certain type of transaction from the datamart every day.
Is it possible that the nightly deletes have caused some bad things with the indexes on these 2 tables?
Would dropping the indexes and recreating them help ?
Does anyone know of defrag utilities that we could use on the NT 4.0 server ?? Would this help?
Any other suggestions why this would happen all of a sudden ?? All feedback is welcome !!
Thanks !
