Hi folks,
I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I can do to improve the speed of my backup system.
I recently picked up an ADS NAS Drive Kit.
But as I try to backup my system's 20 gig of data, I see that I am limited to transmitting data at around 5 to 15 KBytes/sec!! Needless to say this is too slow.
My network route is:
source: MacMini -> 802.11g -> Airport Wireless router (802.11g) -> Wired 10BaseT Hub -> ADS NAS Drive Kit
Does this throughput speed make any sense? It happens no matter what software I use. For short bursts, I can copy files at full speed (~700 KBytes/sec), but but my backups always slow to a crawl.
Any advice? Does this performance review of a sister product (Haking Net Stor) reveal anything about the device that explains it? I can't make heads nor tails of that chart.
Thanks for your time.
