I am trying to create a database where I want to use a form and also use deciamls. This is for an employee database. An example that I would like to use is for vacation days I would like to put say 9.5 in the database. When I press tab after entering 9.5 it rounds up to 10. Is there a way where I can just have it say 9.5?

Thanks,

What is the datatype of the field?

Skip,

Small Medium at Large[tongue]

It is just a number field.

There is no such thing a "just a number field". Look at the attributes/properties of the field design to find a size like Double, Single, Long, Integer,... Change your size to one that accepts decimal values like Single, Double, or Decimal.

I am sorry Access is a pretty confusing program for me. Under the format I have general number listed.

This would be the database table in design view, not a text box on the form. There is no such thing as "General Number" in table design.

It is Long interger under the field name for the table

Well, "integer" means no decimal part. Take Duane's advice and change to a datatype that will store decimals.
Also try using "#.#" in the format property of the text box instead of General Number.

Ok I changed it to decmial and put 2 decimal spots in. When I type 9.5 it just rounds down to 9. I would like it to stay at 9.5 anymore thoughts?

Well the decimal will stay in the table field but it is still rounding down to 9.

Assuming you are entering in a control on the form, check the Format property. Also check its width to make sure the control can display decimals.
