Hi Everyone:

I ‘m having a problem with decimal places. I want to define some (multiplying) factors in a table so that they will be User maintainable instead of putting them in my pgm. The only way I have been able to stop the numbers I entered from rounding is to define them as currency. I don't want to do that for fear of confusing the User and complicating the displaying of the factors on the report.

Does anyone have any suggestions, comments, input, I'll even take constructive output (just kidding).

I'm not sure what you mean exactly "a problem with decimal places", but I had to set up a system which worked in multiple currencies (GBP,USD,DM) so could not use the currency data type. I also had data to about eight decimal places. The solution I used was a Number field, with field size set to double and a seperate field which stored the currency symbol. I then concatenated the two for reports and used the Number field for calculations. I set the Decimal Places to Auto which maintained the source data format for decimal places Sandy

Thanx Sandy it worked like a charm. I was able to enter numbers in the fields that contained decimal places (ie. 24.7).

Thanks again, may all you program bugs jump up to meet you.
