I am currently migrating MS access databases to MS SQL. I have a field with a decimal data type in MS Access with a field length 16 and 2 decimal place values (values after the decimal point). How is this converted in MS SQL if Decimal data type has a maximum field length of only 9? I appreciate the help....pls anybody reply...

In SQL 7 and 2000 you can have precision up to 38 digits. Be careful not to confuse the precision (number of digits) with amount of storage (in bytes) required for a level of precision. SQL BOL contains more info including this table.
[tt]
Precision Bytes
1 - 9 5
10-19 9
20-28 13
29-38 17[/tt] Terry

Neither success nor failure is ever final. -Roger Babson
