I need to implement an age verification system on a website so kids aged 8 - 14 only can sign up.

I have seen sites that get the user to register with their birthdate, then requite a parent's email address to activate the account.

Is this pretty much all that can be done without asking for something like a credit card number?

Is there a method that you prefer?

Thanks for your feedback.

Be very careful here, you could violate many many laws by doing this.

If the child is under the age of 13 in some countries, you cannot ask them for any personal details.

There is no way to verify a child's age, not many 8 - 14 year olds have credit cards. [wink]

Hope this helps

Right, that will be kept in mind.

It is a tween site and we are supposed to keep adults from registering and using the forums, etc.

It has been done before (degrassi.tv)

I had a credit card when I was 9. ;-)
