DEC2000 XT compression not working

I have just installed a Digital dlt tape drive into my home PC and I seem not to be getting the best from it. According to numerous web sites it should be a 15/30gb unit, but I can only get 15 gb out of it.

The product label says: DLT TH3AA-BP
30-47648-01
CX819T1505

I'm using an HP DLTtape IIIXT cartridge.

The backup software that I used established it as a DEC DLT2000.

Is there any trick to getting the compression to work? Or is it already maxxed out?
