DEC (VMS) - MT impact printer!

We want to embed control/escape sequences in a text file of labels to be printed on a Mannesman Tally printer. Only one field will be barcoded so we need to switch the barcodeing on and off. Is there an idiots guide which will tell us how to do this?

As I've not had any replies here is what I've tried:

The printer can emulate a LG01 printer so I've tried putting some LA75 (couldn't find the code for this printer??) codes out assuming that DEC (COMPAQ, HP) would retain the same codes:
Turn LG01 emulation on - Esc[<17h
Start Bar Code - Esc[?11~
End Bar Code - Esc[?10~

Which if we embed these in a print file should print a barcode of whatever is between the start and end barcode codes.

Or am I over simplifying it??
