Debugging flash projector on hybrid cd-rom

Hope someone can help me with this - I finally finished my flash project and tried to burn a hybrid mac/pc cd-rom for distribution; unfortunately when it was tested on a mac, the application stops working. This only happens in one of the sections of the application, always in the same place (while preloading content).

On a pc it works fine, and both the mac and pc share assets from a common folder to both volumes.

The whole application was tested thoroughly on a mac before burning, and the rest of the app works fine, so there isnt an issue with the mac portion being able to access any of the shared assets (xml files, images etc).

Could it be a speed issue to do with accessing data from the CD rather than a hard drive? In which case it should just take longer to load, rather than just hanging, surely?

I'm not sure how to go about trying to fix this - im going to try running X-Ray off the cd rom to debug, but if anyone knows of anything else I could try, it would be very much appreciated!

cheers,
J

oh i really panicked there :)
it seems like that relates to playing a FLV that resides on the local drive (ie hard disk) from a swf playing on a CD-rom?

I burned a mac-only version of my project and it worked perfectly - so something seems to be going amiss with making it into a hybrid cd ?? im using toast on an intel-based mac (dunno whether that should make a difference)

Toast on Mac is THE BEST (if not only) choice for hybrid CD, so I'd trust it - although I've never run it on Intel! May be it's the way you set up. You should have all the real files in Mac volume and in the PC partition you'd have "pointers" to them.

What i did was create a temporary partition, put the mac files plus shared files in it, then used that to create the mac volume in toast. for the pc volume (ISO) i put in the pc files, and dragged the shared folder from the temporary partition. It didnt add any file size when i did that so i assume its just a pointer as you said, and the data isnt being burned twice.

The application is accessing the shared folder properly on both mac and pc as testified by the fact that the application starts at all, and all but one of the sections work.

Anyway this is moving away from a flash discussion... i'll let u know how i get on :)

Just discovered the problem - filename of an image that was preloading was too long. ARGH

I actually wrote that the paths to the files cannot exceed certain number of characters in replay first, but didn't post it as you said it worked fine with Mac only CD. Anyway good you found it.
