Debug variable value by mouse hover not working

Normally, when stepping through code (in Excel), if I hover the mouse over a simple variable (long, string etc), the variable's value is displayed in a little banner by the mouse.

For some reason, today this seems to have stopped working. I'm not aware of having changed any settings, but I guess I may have done so unintentionally. Does anyone have any clues as to whether there is an option I should set to get this functionality back?

Check 'Auto Data Tips' option, in Tools>Options.., 'Editor' tab.

Thanks combo, but it is already checked. Still don't get hovered values. And yes, before somebody asks, I am testing this on simple variable types, not objects like ranges etc.

Contrary to Fee's assertion, the fix for everything is not salt water, it is a re-boot. Panic over. Problem solved.

I still don't know what the problem was, but I guess I'll put it down to Excel getting it's knickers in a twist. Everything is now hunky-dory and all is right with the world once more.
