Hi guys,

How do i put the NetWorker into debug mode?
I'm using a Windows 2000 server and NetWorker version 7.x

I saw the verbose option under preference in the group setting , but it only verbose... can i set debug mode in NetWorker administration GUI?

If i have to run debug mode in the command prompt, how to pipe the output to the file?

Thanks

You may use the options -D1 .. -D9 if you start nsrd. There is no way to do it from the GUI, which is ok as any unexperienced user would use it then.

The output will be automatically locked to the daemon.log file. Be aware that from level 3 and up, the amount of output data will be huge.

My personal tip is that a good personal experience is much better than increasing the debug level for troubleshooting.

you could start a backup from CLI with the -D1..-D9 option and pipe the output to a file.
savegrp -v -D3 -s <server> -l <level> -b <pool> <Groupname> >> savegrplog.txt 2>&1
But be aware of what 605 told. The Output can get very long.

regards
