Debug Assertion failed

I have program that acts as a posting/formatting program between Windows 7/XP and Unix
The program including all its contents was copied from one VM environment to another .

When attempting to launch the program i get the following error :

Expression: *file != _T('\0')

Please can anyone assist

Can't see your attachment at all. The obvious thing to ask is has file been allocated any memory. *file = something will fail if the memory for file has been dallocated.
