I am installing Debian Woody on an elderly Pentium 90. All well until I try to load the network module of the 3C509B etherlink III card. The installation accepts the 3c509 module, tells me it has be installed into the kernel, I set the IP Address, domain etc. then exit the section to .... the blue screen of death! Everything has stopped.
If I install and avoid configuring the card, everything's fine, so what could be wrong with the 3c509 module?

The driver COULD be buggy, but I trust in NASA in writing network drivers (wink). I'm guessing that either there's some hardware failure involved. Try using a different network card. If it fails, it might be the motherboard.

If you get a kernel panic, PLEASE copy all your information that it gives you and POST IT HERE. If it is a bug with the kernel, we need to know about it and get the bug report to the right people.
