I'm installing debian sarge with the network install... and it all installs fine, then I try to install the bootloader, and it can't install grub... ok fine, so I install lilo... no problemo.
Then I can tinker all I want, reboot, install, apt-get all works great.
THen I run dselect, go straight through everything without choosing anything, and it decides to install some packages (namely the kernel image is the problem I'm assuming), and that screws up lilo to the point where it won't boot anymore.
I tried doing an apt-get remove lilo, apt-get install grub... and that didn't matter, it's still trying to boot on lilo even tho it says it isn't installed.
The server is a DL360, and it's driving me nuts, have installed it maybe 4 times now, and have to keep redoing it because of this bootloader issue.
Any advice on course of action?
