I've got a Debian 3 box at a hosting site that seems to have PPP enabled by default. I don't know Deb well enough to guess whether this is a product of the networking implementation or just a default install.
From what I can gather from the network config, it's just a typical Ethernet NIC on a switch with basic routing. There's no functionality using PPP.
My question is basically whether there's any reason NOT to shut off PPP as a service launcher for such an implementation.
