I'm hoping you all can provide some insight into how to deal with OS security patches for the CallPilot server.

Our problem is this: We have a CallPilot 2, running on NT4. By the end of the year, we are supposed to have all NT4 and 95/98 machines off of our corporate WAN. We've already accepted the fact that this will probably have to be an exception. (Any idea if/when CallPilot will be upgraded to run on Windows 2000 or 2003?)

Also, we're having to deal with getting patches installed as soon as they're released, but I understand patches should not be applied directly from Microsoft to the CP server, but that they'll come from Nortel after being tested. Is that correct? The problem is that our IT security manager insists that we need the patches installed immediately. She also wants to join the machine to our Windows 2000 domain, which I believe is also not supported.

Just wondering how you guys are dealing with this, since I'm sure we're not the first organization facing this.

Thanks!

Matt

teh domain will work, but you do loose support, if the microsoft patches corrupt your mail and didn't come from nortel, rebuild it from scratch. with your site i would do a shadow hard drive over the net, it is going to crash (hard) it's just a matter of when. as far a when, they refuse to set a date, but do admit that is in research. sounds like we are in the same boat, we know the rules, but we can't coach the team..
