Hi,

I built a Shuttle SK41G for a friend in June and up until last night it was working fine.

It's running an AMD XP2400+ and 256Mb memory - XP Pro SP1 - absolutely standard.

Now when she restarted it today it will not complete POST.

It powers up but there is no video output, or any of the usual beeps from the mobo. I can hear the HD power up but there is nothing further. I stripped out the HD and CDRW, removed the RAM trying a power-on at each stage. Same result every time.

Should I be looking at a replacement CPU, or is the mobo toast?

Thanks - Tim

I'd check the power supply first. You may hear the fans start, but one of the other rails mat be dead. For instance, the 12v. may OK but the 3.3 (CPU) may be bad.

Hi,

Thanks - the CPU fan does start (heatpipe thing) and the PSU also powers up as the CD drive opens and the operating lights all illuminate.

I'll call the suppliers on Monday and see what they suggest.

Thanks again.
