ok now after almost 20 hours of researching reading and thinking, I think I'm starting to have some inkling about my specific phaser 860 situation.....
The model I've got is named MDX. (I'm still not shure if it was a european designation based on the DP version...)
[My full serial is 860/MDX M1XC19HP3N]
In fact at the glorious time of the 860, MDX was the top of the range, at least in France (part r reference could be different in other country...), including from factory, phasershare, duplex, hard drive and everything else.
This model has a main board with a label saying 671527901-16995 that is not on the 8200/860 part in xerox support page, how strange is that...?
This "strange" main board has directly fitted, using some kind of piggy board, an Ibm travelstar 5G (model djsa-205) with clearly appears to be dead... There is on this board a 128 Mg PC100-222 sync memory modul in the appriate support.
One Mx Z860 chip got a xerox reference 163-1473-00 5141 2E480900B0, Antoher is 163146700 v1.0
And with all my reading it seems that the boot code and systems data was in fact on this "system" hard drive !
It would explain why this printer was working fine for years with no reboot or config modif ... But never could come back to life after a reset.... The system was live in memory and happy like that.... but now it is only a Xerox logo display ( with no diag no reset no nothing ) and some always working fan...
So now I would like to find some one that effectivly own or know this exact model .... just to try to go one step further... please ?
If anybody got any other idea or if I have anything wrong, please just say it....
