Partner Mail VS r5

Went to a client's prem. Trouble cannot access VM. Above module dead, no LED. Replace with spare up and running. Question, back at the shop, on the work bench, is it okay to plug the power cord directly into the module to see if it is truly dead? Would it harm the module if it is a known working module to test the power up sequence?

You can directly power individual modules as they have power ports that match the connector on the Partner power cord.

One word of caution. Point the top of the voice mail module away from your face when powering up. It is not uncommon for those power supplies to spark, flame & smoke just before they fail.

In your situation, with a VM Module bad (power supply in module) you can take the hard-drive out of the old module and put it in the new module so you wont have to reload programming
