Working with a Merlin Magix. I have had this happen on two different systems. For instance I have a line appearance on a phone or multiple phones and after making a change in programming (don't know which change affected this but had nothing to do with trunks) there isn't dial tone any longer. I press the button and the red light lights on the button but no green light and no dial tone. There is dial tone going into the system. The only way I have tried to fix this on one phone is I removed the line and then added it again and then the button had dial tone again. Any suggestions?

Is this in Hybrid/PBX or key mode? If in Hybrid/PBX mode - make sure you have only ACTIVE lines in your "pool" or "pools".

Well, What I would do if I was on site is to go to one of the failing extensions, Press INTERCOM (SA) and Speaker, then dial #00 (POUND Zero Zero, then press the button in question and see what it says it is.

Once you figure that out, you can lift the handset and put it back down, and the set will return to idle.

If your #00, touch button test shows a line assigned, then you can trouble shoot the line.

Well that was the first thing I did was check which trunk port was programmed on the extension and I checked for dial tone going into the port and there is dial tone.
This happened at two different customer sites recently.

Tom - I know the first switch was in Key Mode and I think the other was also and I'm 98% sure that all the lines in the pools are active. Thanks!

Are these lines on a 412 TDL module? Did you check the processor error log for any problems regarding trunks or specific line ports (e.g., "No Loop Current, Slot 01, Port 13"? Could be a "bad" 412 module - unless you are doing something in programming that affects line buttons.

One site has an 800 LS-ID and the other has a 412 module. So I'm not sure whats going on, but I will check the error log to see if that will give me a clue. Thanks for the input guys!

Pepperz has a good point! Is TT/LS Disconnect on each module having line ports configured for "reliable disconnect"?

I'm not sure about the "reliable disconnect" part, and how the trunk ports are programmed. I'm a little confused. What are you getting at? Thanks!

Go into system programming, start, lines/trunks, TT/LS Disc, LS Disconnect, and select "yes". The default is "no".
