I have a dead HARDDRIVE (Matrox 6.3 gb) and want to recover the info (files). My system bios will detect it (the harddrive) but I cannot access or retrieve the partition. I've used partition magic, fdisk and even hooked it up to a different machine to recover the partition with no luck. I'm pretty sure the the HD controller is shot! My question is, are there any other software or techniques avaiable to gain access to the info!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thx

Wish I could help you.. I am having the same exact problem with a 6.4 gig Maxtor. One day is was working, and the next day it wasnt. Shows up in BIOS, but FDISK cannot do anything with it. In fact, when the drive is connected, windows reports an error with my HD controller as well.
