I just received a brand new cisco 7970. I'm in the process of setting up CCM, so it hasn't even talked to a server yet.

I've had the phone powered up for about a week, and just when I was about to start testing it, the phone turned off and hasn't properly booted since then.

Currently, the phone will do a pre boot of the green speaker light, and key 1 will go amber. At that point the phone appears to be powered off.

I can cycle the power to the phone, hold down the # key and tell it to reset to factory defaults. as soon as it reboots, the phone does the scenario above.

So I am unable to ressurect this phone.

Any ideas?

It's brand new. I've only had it for a week. I'm asking my reseller to take it back and replace it.

I also have 2 other DOA phones. They initially powered up fine, then after being on for a while ended up not getting past the cisco logo, and the two line keys alternately flashed amber back and forth. Those two are cisco 7941g units.

Something else you can check is the cable. I had this issue with a couple of phone and found out it was bad Cat5e, replaced the cable and things worked fine. Though it is possible to have a couple DOA's, I had 4 originally when I set up our center. 4 out of 90 were bad.

Ok, 3 of 96 isn't so bad then.

I've tried using the power cube directly, without a cat5e and it still won't boot.
