Dead 012 Card 2

Warning!! New to Avaya. Nortel guy. Go easy!! I am working on a 3 carrier rls 6.1 Legend. Card slot 5 has a 012 card that went south. I correctly powered down, removed the card of the backplane, reinserted and powered up. No change. Installed a new/refurbed card, no change. The ports don't even have battery on them. Carrier 3 has the last slot 17 open. It is programmed as a 408. Can I install the 012 there, do a board renumber, then renumber/reprogram the extensions, and get these 12 people up and running?

Definitely sounds like slot 5 on the carrier is dead. If you are going to skip slot 5, at least make sure you have an 012 in there. If that slot comes alive and there is nothing in there, all modules to the right of it will stop working.
You are on the money with inserting the 012 in the last slot on carrier 3 and doing a board renumber.

Keep the card in the original slot first - and using the maintenance function for that slot# - busy out the slot. Now power down - remove it and move it to the last slot - and do a board renumber after powering back up. You will need to use system renumber to move the extention numbers from the old "busied-out" slot to the new location of the 012 module.

Well - you might just want to pick up another expansion carrier base - just in case.
