Ok here is the next question....

I have created a movie with a sort of desktop type theme to the first scene. when one of the buttons on the desktop has been selected it calls another movie that overlays the desktop in much the same way that windows does. however when this happens and the user scrolls over the new movie, the buttons under that movie (ie on the desktop) are still active even though covered by the new movie.

this obviously causes all sorts of problems. is there some way that I can get around this problem without major reconstruction?.. I thought of making the entire background of the new movie as an inactive button and this works but you get the finger mouse pointer all the time and I don't like breaking the rules like that...

to see my problem, go to...
and select on of the buttons on the bottom right of the screen (links or resources etc.)

its a bit messy at the moment so please forgive me..

i just had the same problem with something i'm working on..you can see it at
what i had to do was with the same button that i loaded the movie into level1 i sent the main movie to a dummy frame where the buttons were inactive (thank oldnewbie for the idea)..copy and pasted all the elements i needed that were on the main time line and pasted them into the dummy frame..if you goto that site you'll see the professional link is a loaded movie..loaded on top of all the buttons on the main timeline..maybe not the best fix but it works..

and by the way that site was a cheapy so not much flashiness going on there, but it works..my first real paying customer..not paying much..but paying nonetheless..and the personal link is not done yet..finishing as we speak..

You are trying this with the left side alt key and numbers (including the 0) on the numeric key pad with Num Lock on, aren't you!

Now, if you'd just follow my instructions (in that other thread) about duplicating symbols and editing them... You'd owe me a 6-pack!
