I am new to filemaker pro, and i'm trying to dedupe some records that are in a database i've inherited. Is there a way to use filemaker's scripting language (similar to sql)?

the table i'm working with is fname, lname, addr, text1,text2.
There aren't exact duplicate entries, but the same person can exist multiple times with slight changes in the text1 and text2 fields.

I want to make it so only one record for a name exists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what i would do is perform an export. fix it up in excel because you don't want to complicate thins for no reason. this will save you a lot of hours.
