DE Bound Control writes Null Key on ADD

I am a beginning VB, long-time RPG Programmer. In a very simple Data Environment Update program (ACCESS data base) a Null is being entered into the Key field causing an error on .Update. When I debug the program, I can see the correct data in the bound text box, but it is not transferring to the file. The text box displays the correct information when the record is displayed also and moves from record to record correctly. The rest of the fields in the table update correctly.
