I am in the process of writing a program for the blind. They want to use the number keypad to "read" what's on the
screen. Problem is we can't have the keypad performing it's
normal functions such as typing numbers, shifting left or
right, etc. Is there a way to deactivate these functions during the running of the application?

Hi,

You will have to get your application to implement KeyListener. Compare the KeyEvents with the keys in the numpad and just do nothing if the keys in the numpad are pressed.

Regards,
Leon If you need additional help, you can email to me at zaoliang@hotmail.com I don't guaranty that I will be able to solve your problems but I will try my best :)
