hi,

i am a linux newbie using red hat 9 and trying to get DDNS working in a test environment -- basically a laptop running RH9 and a w2k pro client. While trying to setup DDNS, I get the following error in the /var/log/messages file:

dhcpd: delete IN PTR 50.10.x.x.in-addr.arpa add 302400 IN PTR 50.10.x.x..w2kclient.domain.com: not a zone

I cannot figure out the "not a zone" part of the error. Any help is appreciated.

thanks for the reply - actually i do have a reverse zone file in /var/named -- here is the file in a short form with comments added by me:

@ IN SOA dom.com. email.dom.com. {

; then there are the time limits for refersh etc.
);
IN NS dom.com.

1 IN PTR server.dom.com.

; the server is the box running BIND and DHCPD
; 1 is the IP of this box i.e. 10.10.10.1
