Hi,

Is there anybody who could give me the steps on how to set-up the DDI in BCM50?

Somebody told me to put the DDI numbers in Pub. Received# but it gives an error (only 3 characters allowed) if I put 8 digits.

thanks!

Are you using 3 digit ext numbers?

You only put the EXT number you want it to go to, ie the digits the Telco is sending

Are you referring to a DTI (digital trunk interface) card or the DDI MUX (digital drop and insert) care? DTI will work in a BCM 50, DDI will not.

Regardless, make sure your public received digit length is set to 7 - the BCM 50 can only receive 7 DNIS digits from the telco in release 1.0.

I'm using 4 digits ext numbers.

I'll try to set the public received digit length to 7. Just a quick question, do you change it under the folder of Dialing Plan, Public Network, Public Received number length = 7 ?

And also, is it necessary to reboot the system after changing the number length?

thanks!

Change it under the REC Number Length, but you need to find out from your carrier how many digits they are sending. Around here it is mainly the last 4 digits of the number.

okay. Do I also need to set the physical lines (line 095,096,097,098) to Answer Mode = Auto ? At the moment, it is set to Manual.

Normally you would just leave it alone and just setup your target lines to go to the ext's you want to have DID/DDI and assign the target line to the phone under line assignment

Answer mode will need to be auto if these are E&M wink start trunks.

The trunks have to be Auto Answer that is how they receive the digits that Telco will send.

Thanks lads! I set the system into Auto Answer.

Do I need to put the 4 numbers (2 BRI) in target line?
Line 125 - 700 4085
Line 126 - 700 4077
Line 127 - 800 5030
Line 128 - 800 5031

Or only a block of 10 DDI numbers?
Line 129 - 700 6030
Line 130 - 700 6031
Line 131 - 700 6032
Line 132 - 700 6033
Line 133 - 700 6034
Line 134 - 700 6035
Line 135 - 700 6036
Line 136 - 700 6037
Line 137 - 700 6038
Line 138 - 700 6039

I know that I need to connect the extension to the target line. I tried this setting and it didn't work.

Thanks!
