Ddhelp locks the Computer

Apparently since installing Netscape 7.1 over the previous version of 7.02, on closing Netscape, I get a DDHELP error message (a type of GPF) which locks the computer. Never got this with version 7.02. Reboot is necessary each time. Very irritating!

MS knowledge base only refers to upgrading the video card (ATI Radeon 7200) driver. This I have done with the latest (7/03) driver but this hasn't helped.

Ddhelp.exe is in the windows/system sub-directory. I tried renaming ddhelp.exe ddhelp.old and that didn't help.

Any ideas, please, anyone?

DirectDraw Helper is part of DirectX and is used for graphics related services, try updating direct X and see if that helps.

Thanks - no - installing the latest DirectX from the MS website didn't solve it nor did d/loading the latest ATI Radeon video drivers.

However, I seem to have solved it by disabling "System ROM Breakpoint" in Msconfig.

Funny things, computers ..........
