DDE - how to 1

I need to pass small peices of data between two VB applications. I don't want to use a file (data might change quite rapidly and frequently which would leave me with synchronisation problems), nor TCP (too hard).<br>

So I thought of DDE, which I've never used but understood to be simple and reliable.<br>
<br>
Small problem. I can't figure out how to do it from the help files or VB books online. Can someone explain this to me in words of &lt;= two syllables?<br>
