Hello

I have a small problem and we have Goldmine 5 and are trying to do mail merge.

The problem is that some of the address lines are blank so within word we get blank lines within the address.

Any ideas on how to overcome this would be appreciated, we are using the DDELINK!

If the merge file is field-dependent, that is, all of your address lines are represented in the merge template, I think your options are limited. You may want to concatenate the submitted info in a single field, and get rid of multi spaces.

Thanks, how would I do this within Goldmine?

I was looking for something like this where I could do a multiple If statement which evaluated the address fields!

The simplest answer within the Goldmine domain is to have an automated process concatenate all of the address fields into a user-defined field, and use that field in the merge. There are probably other, fancier ways, but this is the quick and dirty method.

Hi

Another way of getting blank lines is to use IF statements in the template to check for blanks. If a blank exists then suppress the line otherwise display the field.

The UKBlank.Dot template that ships with GoldMine has blank line suppression already built in, this can be found in the Templates folder.

Hope this helps

Rob
