DCOM W2K->NT4

HI, I've got a com object running on a win2k box which i would like to export as a proxy and put on an NT4 box.
Can this be done or am I dealing with apples and oranges here?

So far it lets me export the com object as a proxy package and seems to let me install it on the NT4 box but when i look in MTS there are no remote packages and when i run some test code it fails on creating the object.

Anyone care to tell me the error of my ways?
