We get the following error several times every day in one of our 2003 Servers.

The server is used as a Windows Update Server and an IP Monitor.

System Log

Event ID 10009
Event: DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer 192.168.1.x using any of the configured
protocols.

Source: DCOM
Timestamp: 20060313042707.000000-300

All of the device IP Addresses are for Active Network Printers and Switches.

Go to this registry key and find your listed DCOM protocols:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RPC

Paste them here. They will be something like:

ncacn_ip_tcp
ncacn_spx
ncacn_nb_nb
ncacn_nb_ipx

It's always the same IP(s), or different ones that show up in the log?

Sorry - also, is this happening when your IP monitor program attempts to communicate with these devices?
