Hello,

we have always an error message in the eventlog, 2-5 min. after then the backup starts.
Here the message:

Event-ID 10005
DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service NtmsSvc with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server:
{D61A27C6-8F53-11D0-BFA0-00A024151983}

We use Networker 6.02 on W2K-Server SP2 with an ADIC Scalar 100 Library and 2 IBM LTO-Drives.

Can anyone help?

We have the same problem with our IBM W2K Server in combination with NW 6.1.0 and maybe therefore very often connection problems and inactivity timeouts. We are very desperate. Please Help.

It is very leikely that the Service mentioned is the Removable Storage Manager that cannot be started.
With Legato Networker it should be DISABLED.

Hope this helps.

Hi!

as BramdeJager anwser DCOM error comes from the removeble storage manager. The server should be diable and when you do this you get this error Right?

Disable <DCOM> for NtmsSvc on Windows 2000.

1. From the Start and run Menu, type "dcomcnfg" , without the quotes.
2. Go to the Applications tab and select NtmsSvc, click Properties.
3. Go to the Location tab.
4. Unselect the option, Run application on this computer.
5. Click OK twice to save the changes.

A reboot is not required.

Networker show me this message after I disable the NtmsSvc:

NetWorker media: (alert) Jukebox `ADIC' failed All allocated drives are not usable, unrecoverable operation errors.

Any ideas?

Hello, when you are using Legato Networker, you have to define your Jukebox (Autochanger).

First. Run Inquire from the Commandlevel.
Second. Run Jbconfig from the Commandlevel.

After that the Autochanger and your tapedevices should be defined ok.

I have define it. Sucessfull. The Backup works sucessfull too. But on every start w2k create the message you see above.
