DCOM across VPN connection

Hello,

I have recently had an application dropped into my lap that uses DCOM to communicate between the client and server. When the server and client are running on the same subnet, the client can attach just fine. When I try to attach to the server from a client on the other side of the VPN, the server cannot be contacted.

At this point I need some help diagnosing the problem. How do I check error messages generated by DCOM?

Are there known issues with DCOM connecting across slow links (ping response times 600-1000ms)?

I'm currently on the phone with Sonicwall trying to determine if the VPN itself is actually dropping DCOM traffic. Are there any known issues or special considerations that need to be taken with DCOM applications across VPN tunnels?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Both the 'server' and client are running Windows XP.
