Hi!
I have a problem with in common with the dhcp on windows 2000 server.
I have 2 scopes, on with only reservation (mac-ip dependent) for our employees and a second scope without reservations for guests and visitiors.
Now i encounter the problem, that our employees also get adresses out of scope 2, it seems that the server responds quicker with adresses out of the scope without reserverations.
Is it possible to configure the server with a short delay for the second scope?
Or can i set a flag on the user side that they only accept reserverd ip´s from the dhcp?

Thx!

look to setting class ids...

ipconfig /settclassid myClass

you can force clients to go to a certain config in this way.

hi aftertaf,

thanks for you tip but i think thats not that sultion i need. as far as i know with user classes i can force e.g. a different dns server for a group of people.
but my problem is that i have 2 scopes for 2 different subnets and all is assigned dynamically.
The first scope is four our regular employees and has alle adresses excluded, all adresses are reserved (mac - ip pairs). If a employee comes online he gets the rights adress and is placed in the right vlan.
the second scope is for guests and has no reserverations and exclusions.
Here is the problem. Now, every client gets adresses out of the guest scope and is placed in the guest vlan, because the scope without exclusions and reservations responds quicklier than the on with reserverations. the client accepst the first dhcp reply and gets the wrong adress.

Can i implement a delay in the guest scope???
