DCE for AIX 4.3.3

Hi,
We are in a process to configure the HPOV ( HP Open View ) in bunch of AIX servers to get the system alert. While installing the DCE from the base OS CD, I can see the DCE supporting file s are present, but while installing its looking for prerequisite. The oslevel information is AIX 4.3.3 with ML11

How can I find these DCE old version so that I can update them with AIX4.3.3 base media. I tried all the way but unable to load them. And due to this the HPOV configuration is stuck for all these servers.

Can someone help me out on this ?

usually, when you see an error like this, it means that you're dealing with a licensed program and need the install disks for the software... which are purchased seperate from the OS.

if i remember right, dce was packaged this way, back when 4.3.3 was suppported. (and still may be, i haven't used it in ages).

to be sure, if you have the all of the installation disks for AIX and you cannot find the base level of a fileset, then it's licensed outside of the OS.

I tried all of the CDs but I couldn't locate DCE requisites from them. So you mean DCE doesn't come by default with the AIX 4.3.3 base OS CD ?

No, DCE doesn't (or atleast it didn't back then) come with the OS media. It was an add-on.

Have you tried using the non-DCE install for HPOV? Its been ages since I dealt with this, but I think there was two different install methods that could be used for OV, one required DCE (which we were never able to get because it was an additional cost that our department didn't want to pay for) and NCS (I think that's what it was called). We got the non-DCE version running just fine.

Maybe an option for you too.

Yeah it looks that way.

if you dont have the install disks for dce, then perhaps you can try what cspilman is suggesting.

I will check with my team so that they can go for NCS instead of DCE. But my team member is saying HP now a days not supporting NCS, as we were installing HPOV 7.2.

I will check with them again and will get back to you with update.
