Hi,

I am getting the following error when running dcdiag:
LDAP bind failed with error 8341
WIN32 error 8341

Any ideas?

Cheers

Check your DNS settings. Your servers NICs should only have entries for internal DNS servers. In your DNS Snap-In, your ISP DNS servers should be entered in the Forwarders tab.

Check your DHCP scope too and make sure that it is only providing local DNS servers.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks for your response Mark.

I added the Reverse settings in DNS, which it sounds like I didn't need to do. Before adding this, I ran DCDiag and the error was that the DNS name could not be resolved. Other DCDiag tests seemed to run though.

Should I uninstall the Reverse DNS? If so, Do you know what I would need to do to get rid of the DNS name not resolving please?

Cheers

Your RDNS entry is fine, it won't hurt anything. Can you post your DCDIAG results? Feel free to change domain name for security reasons.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Yes, the posts are helpful, thanks. I have got a screen shot of the DCDiag results. Is there an email address I can send it to?

Thanks again
Amanda

Send the report to a text file by specifying the log name and you can post the text right here for others to see as well.

Run DCDIAG /? for the proper context to set the log location.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Here is the text from the DCDIAG log file:

Domain Controller Diagnosis

Performing initial setup:
[10.0.0.100] LDAP bind failed with error 8341,
Win32 Error 8341.

So is that the entire report?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

It is yes. But I have realised what the problem was now and feel a bit stupid. I was running the Windows 2003 DCDIAG version on a Windows 2000 server.

Many thanks for all your help
Amanda

Glad you got it working.

I hope you find this post helpful.
